As plastic surgeons we’re always talking about face lifting, cheek augmenting, brow lifting, these are all surgical procedures. The one thing that is often not addressed in some of those procedures is the outer covering and that is the realm of resurfacing.
There’s a little history associated with resurfacing the skin. Resurfacing has been around for thousands of years. There is actual historical documentation that Egyptian women used to take pumice stones and just scrub the skin. This was an early form of dermabrasion which is resurfacing of the skin. This is a controlled injury to the skin which forces the skin to heal. You’re almost exercising the skin. When it grows back and heals its smoother, tighter, and the complexion is better.

About the procedures
In modern times we do this several different ways. One of the ways is chemical peeling. We take a light chemical, it exfoliates the skin, and the skin heels itself and looks healthier. Now we can use lasers for this purpose. The most technologically advanced one that we have available here at Premier Image is Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. We now have a laser procedure that gives you all the benefits of the older style of laser resurfacing without the recovery time.
When we mention CO2 resurfacing to patients they sometimes cringe a little bit because 10 to 15 years ago it was quite a recovery associated with CO2 resurfacing. Now we learned to harness that laser, the power of it, and deliver it in the correct way to the skin. This is called fractional resurfacing. Instead of taking off the whole layer of skin, the laser drills small, tiny microscopic holes in the skin. It leaves normal skin around these little holes. The skin still has to heal but it heals very quickly.
Almost a 100% of patients are back in makeup by 5 to 6 days. That was unheard of from the resurfacing we had as little as 5 or 6 years ago. The results have been fantastic. In fact it has become the gold standard for acne treatment where there was acne scarring on the face and lines on the face. Results are amazing without a lot of recovery time. It can be repeated once every 2 to 3 months.
Premier Image Cosmetic and Laser Surgery offers an array of state-of-the-art cosmetic laser services. All procedures are safe and effective. Laser services are performed in their Medical Skin Care Center or are done in conjunction with surgical procedures in their on-campus surgical center. Depending on the particular laser service, they are performed by licensed aestheticians or by one of their board certified plastic surgeons. All equipment used on patients is owned by Premier Image and undergoes regular maintenance to insure proper delivery to the patient.
Matrix CO2 Laser System
Fractional technology that makes a true difference and greatly reduces downtime as compared to past CO2 lasers!
How the system works
The Matrix Fractional CO² laser optimizes traditional CO² treatments by introducing a grid pattern of tiny pulses of light at the skin. Each pulse delivers a column of energy that can reach the skin’s dermal layer. This stimulates a natural renewal process of the body’s own collagen. Also, because the laser beam has been fractionized, small areas of untreated skin will be left between the treated spots. By strategically performing the procedure in this way, the healing process is accelerated.
A safe, long lasting & effective treatment for:
- Vertical Lip Lines
- Skin Texture Irregularities
- Pigmented Lesions
- Fine Lines
- Acne Scars
- Sun Damage
Is fractional resurfacing right for you?
Fractional skin resurfacing is a safe and effective procedure for almost any skin type. Fractional resurfacing can be applied to most areas of the body.
- Treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes
- Treatment sensations vary from person to person with most experiencing a warm sharp feeling and an immediate tightening of the skin.
- Most patients feel as if they have a mild sunburn for a few days after treatment
- After having a full facial skin rejuvenation treatment one will need to stay indoors for a few days.
The Matrix Fractional CO² laser system was chosen by Premier Image Cosmetic and Laser Surgery because of its precision and reliability to safely deliver desired treatment outcomes. Schedule a consultation to find out how you can benefit from a Matrix Fractional CO2 laser treatment.
Before and After Photos

A Premier image exclusive in Atlanta. Have the kind of smooth, tight skin that only laser can give you but without the hassle factor. This lunchtime laser peel uses nothing more than blown chilled air to cool the skin. Best done in a series of five treatments, the ArcticPeel™ is by far our most popular laser procedure. No anesthetic is required. Mild redness is expected afterward, and patients typically return to work the following day. Best for those people who are beginning to see the results of sun damage and aging on their face but really don’t require an aggressive laser resurfacing procedure (or don’t have the time for one). Specific benefits for aged and photo-damaged skin include improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, reduction of brown spots and scars, and an overall tightening of the skin. Makeup will go on smoother and you will feel and look younger.
Laser Hair Removal
Whether for hygienic or cosmetic reasons, the patient who is tired of temporary, often painful methods of removing unwanted hair may welcome laser and intense pulsed light hair removal with relief.
Lasers produce highly focused, intense beams of light that are absorbed by dark pigments in the hair follicles beneath the skin’s surface and converted to heat, destroying the follicles and preventing hair growth for up to two years. Multiple treatments are required for complete hair removal — the follicle must be active at the time of treatment, and not all follicles are active at the same time. Treatments are needle-free and do not require anesthesia. Most patients feel nothing more than a slight sting like the snap of a rubber band.
Laser Removal of Spider Veins, Scars and Stretch Marks
New technology allows us to treat spider veins, scars and stretch marks without surgery or other painful procedures that require an extended hospital stay and long recovery. Laser treatment is painless and does not require anesthesia.
For spider vein treatment, the laser aims carefully controlled pulses of narrow-wavelength light at the damaged veins. The veins absorb the light and heat up, then collapse and close. These techniques also treat a wide variety of scars and stretch marks. The laser’s energy stimulates the skin under the scar and causes the fibroblasts in the skin to begin to divide again. It also stimulates the production of collagen. This thickens the skin under the scar until it closely resembles the surrounding normal skin.
