The Eyelash Tinting Process
The first step of the eyelash tinting process is filling out a questionnaire. This ensures that the treatment is right for the patient and lets the aesthetician know of any additional factors they will need to take into account during the eyelash treatment. Once eligibility is determined, the aesthetician will work with the patient to determine the right color. Many individuals with naturally dark lashes choose the darkest blue-black color. Those with lighter lashes often choose black or brown.
The actual eyelash tinting process is quick. First, the aesthetician starts by washing the eye area with a mild cleanser. A barrier cream is applied to the area surrounding the eye to prevent any staining. Once the eyes are prepped, the lashes will be painted. Using a very fine brush, the pre-mixed tint is painted onto the lower lashes. It is important that the tint is applied to the lashes from root to tip. Otherwise, there will be a distinct line where the color has not been placed, clearly not the desired result.
Once both sets of lower lashes are done, the tint is applied to the top lashes with the eyes closed. The dye stays on the lashes to process for 10 minutes before being wiped away. Proper cleanup of the lashes is crucial to avoid a “raccoon eye” look. The aesthetician instructs the patient to keep their eyes closed while the tint is removed from the lashes. Once the protective eye patches are removed and any leftover cream is removed, dark, separated lashes are immediately apparent.
