The “QT Lift™” (Mini Facelift) was recently featured on FOX 5 News, as the best, low downtime alternative to the traditional facelift because only local anesthesia and minimal downtime is needed.
This low downtime facelift, the QT Lift™, was developed by Dr. Louis DeJoseph at Premier Image Cosmetic & Laser Surgery for people not quite ready for a full facelift or those who just can’t afford much time away from their busy schedules, but desire a fresh, rejuvenated appearance. Doctor DeJoseph is triple board certified by the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, and by the America Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery. He performs over 250 facelift procedures for patients each year.
The “QT Lift™” offers all the benefits of a full facelift with little downtime and less swelling and bruising. The best candidates for “QT Lift™” are usually adults between the ages of 40 and 65, with early signs of aging, those who just do not have time away from their busy schedules, and those who just require a touch-up.
The “QT Lift™” is unique to all mini facelift procedures, as it incorporates the same technique as the traditional full facelift. Unlike the “Featherlift” where a barbed thread is used to hold the skin in place and the “Lifestyle Lift,” where a permanent suture is left in place to hold the tissues, the “QT Lift™” procedure actually lifts, repositions, and places sutures in the actual muscle layer or “SMAS” (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) as is done in a traditional full facelift. It is this repositioning of the muscle layer or “SMAS” that gives the “QT Lift™” its longevity and reputation of being the best alternative to the traditional full facelift. The “QT Lift™” addresses the face using minimal incisions. The incision is hidden in the hairline, just above the ear and continues down, camouflaged in the creases in front of the ear or just inside the ear itself, curving around the earlobe, continuing in the crease behind the ear. In general, the “QT Lift™” has the same technique and longevity as the traditional full facelift but addresses a smaller area of concern. For individuals with a heavy neck or excessive sagging of the face, neck, and jowls, QT Lift™ may be paired with the QT Neck Lift for optimal results. Commonly, liposuction of the neck and under the chin as well as a platysmaplasty may also be performed with a facelift.
The “QT Lift™” can be performed under local anesthesia and oral medications. Because smaller and fewer incisions are made, bruising and swelling are greatly reduced. Patients are able to return to work or social functions in as little as three to five days. The QT Lift™ is performed in our state-of-the-art, surgery center at Northside Hospital Center Pointe. The surgery center is operated by Northside Hospital and only doctors of anesthesia and fully trained and accredited staff members are chosen to provide our patients with the highest standards of safety in a comfortable, environment with luxurious accommodations and privacy.

Premier Image Cosmetic and Laser Surgery offers private consultations for patients interested in having a facelift. You first meet with our patient care coordinator who will discuss your goals in detail. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet with a triple board certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Louis DeJoseph to discuss your candidacy and goals in detail for the procedure. Dr. DeJoseph will collaborate with you to ensure all your questions are answered during your consultation. Together, you, your patient care coordinator, and Dr. DeJoseph will create a comprehensive treatment plan to get you to your goal. Our team will ensure that you feel comfortable and informed before you schedule your preoperative appointment and the facelift surgery itself.
QT Mini Facelift Procedure
Much like a traditional facelift, Dr. DeJoseph will mark the face the morning of the surgery with a marking pen during the pre-operative preparation. The exact design of the planned incisions will vary with each patient because each surgery is custom to their facial structure and goals.
Dr. DeJoseph reviews each patient’s photograph the evening prior to the surgery for planning. The morning of the surgery, the patient will be marked while sitting up. While the patient will be lying down in a supine position during surgery, the markings will still be in place.
Dr. DeJoseph’s goal is to restore a natural, rejuvenated look. “The direction of pull depends on the deformity that is to be corrected in the individual patient. Planning of the surgery begins at the consultation and continues through the pre-operative appointment, to the night before the procedure, and finally, the morning of the surgery,” says Dr. DeJoseph.
Patient Care & Recovery
At Premier Image Cosmetic & Laser Surgery, we pride ourselves in using only board-certified doctors of anesthesia and a surgical staff not only chosen for their experience and expertise but for their caring attitudes as well.
Following the facelift procedure, patients are discharged from the hospital the same day. Patients should follow all post-operative instructions they are given. Doctor DeJoseph applies a dressing to be worn overnight to protect the entire area where the incisions have been made. Though discomfort should be fairly minimal, pain medication will be prescribed to help keep patients feeling comfortable throughout the recovery period. This will be removed on the morning following your facelift. Swelling is a normal part of the recovery process, and patients should try to sleep with their head elevated to reduce the amount of swelling. Patients should also avoid turning the neck as much as possible as this causes pulling on the healing tissues. Some numbness can also be expected during the first few weeks.
Most patients can return to work in about 5-7 days, but some activities will need to be postponed for a minimum of two weeks after surgery, including bending, lifting, and exercise. Saunas, hot hair styling tools, and steam rooms should not be used for at least two months following facelift surgery. Following post-operative instructions carefully will help avoid complications and enhance overall results.
Medications are prescribed by Dr. DeJoseph to ensure that your comfort is maintained.
Frequently Asked Questions About Mini Facelift
How long will my results last?
Your desired results can last ten years or more. Subsequent alterations in the appearance of your body may occur as the result of aging, sun exposure, weight loss, weight gain, pregnancy, menopause, and/or other circumstances not related to your surgery.
Am I a candidate for a facelift?
Any healthy adult struggling with sagging skin is potentially a candidate for a facelift. Many people have this procedure performed in their 50’s and 60’s, but individual candidacy is up to the discretion of your plastic surgeon.
Where would the procedure be performed?
Dr. DeJoseph performs surgery at Northside Hospital Center Pointe.
How long does it take to recover from the QT Lift™?
Because smaller and fewer incisions are made, bruising and swelling are greatly reduced. Patients are able to return to work or social functions in as little as five to seven days.
Can I take medications and herbal dietary supplements?
There are potential adverse reactions that occur as the result of taking over-the-counter, herbal, and/or prescription medications. Aspirin and medications that contain aspirin interfere with bleeding. These include non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as Motrin, Advil, and Aleve. It is very important not to stop drugs that interfere with platelets, such as Plavix, which is used after a stent. When taking the prescribed pain medications after surgery, realize that they can affect your thought process and coordination. Do not drive, do not operate complex equipment, do not make important decisions and do not drink any alcohol while taking these medications. Be sure to take your prescribed medication only as directed.
Can I be out in the sun following surgery?
The effects of the sun are damaging to the skin. Exposing the treated areas to the sun may result in increased scarring, color changes, and poor healing. Patients who tan, either outdoors or in a salon, should inform their surgeon and either delay treatment, or avoid tanning until the surgeon says it is safe to resume. The damaging effect of sun exposure occurs even with the use of sunblock or clothing coverage.
Can I travel after surgery?
Any surgery holds the risk of complications that may delay healing and your return to normal life. Please let the surgeon know of any travel plans, important commitments already scheduled or planned, or time demands that are important to you, so that appropriate timing of surgery can occur. There are no guarantees that you will be able to resume all activities in the desired time frame.
I saw Dr. DeJoseph recently, for a mini facelift procedure on February 5th. This was a great experience. From the time we first met, Dr. DeJoseph was totally friendly and went out of his way to help with my concerns. Dr. DeJoseph has a very professional staff who made me feel at home, explaining to me the mini facelift technique and how it could help my situation. I found out about the doctor from someone I know well, who had also seen Dr. De Joseph. I would never have guessed she had any work done, so I knew this would be the office for me. My face was starting to look a bit droopy and much older than I felt, so when my birthday came around, I finally decided to treat myself. I love that my skin is now smooth and looks so refreshed. Not only do I look like I am well-rested, but I actually look years younger. My whole process was smooth and gratifying. My hope is that I can inspire someone else to do the same.
