Why Have A Mommy Makeover?
The truth is, pregnancy and having a baby changes a woman’s body – often forever. The skin is stretched, especially around the belly and breasts. This can make it extremely hard to regain your post-baby body even when you are doing everything right.
Because of certain hormonal and biological changes related to pregnancy and childbirth, often it just doesn’t make sense to expect your body to bounce back on its own. As the old saying goes, “9 months up and 9 months back down!” A Mommy Makeover can alleviate those feelings of insecure body image and help your body bounce back from the tolls of pregnancy and childbirth, no matter how long ago you became a mommy.
One of the best reasons to opt for a Mommy Makeover is it is an all-in-one surgery instead of trying to sculpt or smooth different areas of your body one by one. By having all of your surgical procedures together at once, your recovery time is a fraction of what it would be with doing individual surgeries. This helps you get back to your life feeling better than ever faster.
Mommy Makeover Procedures
When you decide to have a Mommy Makeover, the first thing that will happen is a consultation where your full medical history will be discussed. In this consultation, you can discuss what your hopes and goals are for your Mommy Makeover. You can also ask all the questions that you have and disclose any allergies or issues that may impact your surgery.
Afterwards, with our help, you will draft up a plan for your customized Mommy Makeover. If you have any underlying medical issues, such as a pregnancy-related hernia, these can often be fixed at the same time.
Are You A Candidate?
You are a good candidate for a Mommy Makeover if you are in good health overall. If you have recently had a C-section pregnancy or another surgical procedure, you may be advised to wait until healing from that procedure is complete before having a Mommy Makeover.
You should also be done with breastfeeding before having a Mommy Makeover, since breastfeeding can affect both the size and shape of your breasts. For best results, allow for at least two to three months for your breasts to return to a normal shape and size.
Having achieved a relatively stable post-pregnancy weight is also important. Weight fluctuations can change the surgical plan and your results, whether you gain the weight before or after your surgery. In general, if you are within 10 percent of your goal weight, you are stable enough weight-wise to do your Mommy Makeover.

Mommy Makeover FAQs
While you will likely have your own specific questions to ask as well, here are answers to a few of the most commonly asked questions related to having a Mommy Makeover.
How long will the procedure last?
This will depend on what you decide to have done during your Mommy Makeover. A typical procedure (consisting of breast lift and/or enhancement and tummy tuck and/or liposuction) take approximately four or five hours in the operating room plus an additional hour or so in the recovery room.
What can I expect after the procedure?
You can expect to feel some soreness or tenderness in certain areas of your body. Pain medications will be prescribed as needed for any discomfort. He will also want you to refrain from physical exertion or exercise for at least six full weeks following your surgery date. You may also be asked to stop smoking, as nicotine can inhibit wound healing.
Are there risks?
As with any surgical procedure, especially ones requiring the use of general anesthetic, there are always some risks to be mindful of. Common risks to discuss include wound healing, bleeding, infection at wound sites and fluid drainage in wound areas.
How soon can I return to work?
This will depend in part on what kind of work you do. In general, you will be free to return to work within two to eight weeks. If you have a very nonphysical job (such as sieng at a desk and typing or answering phones) you may be able to return to work sooner than that.
What about scarring?
If you have had a C-section, your scar will no longer be visible following your Mommy Makeover. However, you will have some scarring for a time from the Mommy Makeover procedures until your wounds heal. In nearly all cases, scars will fade to a nearly unnoticeable whitish color within 12 months following your surgery.
Should I wait until my children get older?
This is a very common question, and the choice really is yours, but we often advise you to go ahead and have the surgery while your kids are still young.
Not only will you get back to feeling like your old physical self much faster, but you will get your surgery out of the way before your kids are old enough to want to participate in more physical activities that they will want their mommy to be a part of!
Also, as a mom, there will never be an “un-busy” time to schedule surgery, but with a little extra help during your first couple of weeks of recovery time, you can still be with your little ones and recover from your Mommy Makeover at the same time.
Also keep in mind, it’s never too late to have a mommy makeover either! Whether your children are 2, 22, or 42 you still deserve the body you want at any stage of motherhood.
What if I am not sure I am done having children?
While it certainly is possible to carry another child after having a Mommy Makeover, you will experience the best results from your surgery by waiting until your family is complete before scheduling your Mommy Makeover if you plan on having an abdominoplasty. However, surgeries such as breast lift, breast reduction or liposuction can be done very easily between
pregnancies with no real adverse affects on carrying a baby or breast feeding afterwards.
What will I wear after my surgery?
Wearing special compression garments right after your surgery which will aid in helping your body heal as fast as possible. But these can be worn under your regular clothes and won’t be noticeable.
How will I know I am ready for a Mommy Makeover?
If you meet all the criteria mentioned above for being a good candidate, you are not happy with your post-pregnancy body, you have already tried everything you can do on your own through diet and exercise and you still just don’t feel like “yourself,” you may be ready for a Mommy Makeover.
