Wouldn’t it be nice to go braless under today’s tank tops and strapped dresses again, then you might consider a breast lift. A breast lift is a procedure that returns sagging breasts (breast ptosis) to their perky, more youthful position. The breast tend to elongate and lose their youthful contour with aging, loss of skin elasticity and gravity or are a result from pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, or hereditary factors.
A breast lift, also known as Mastopexy is a surgical procedure that lifts and firms the breasts by removing excess skin then lifting and tightening of the underlying breast tissue to reshape and improve breast contour and firmness. Sutures are layered deep within the breast tissue to provide support for the new breast shape.
A Breast lift surgery doesn’t significantly change the size of your breasts or always increase the volume of the upper part of your breast (cleavage). Dr. Klein’s artistic touch and years of experience in specializing in breast lift surgery provide patients with more options in size and shape of the breasts. His more advanced techniques have resulted in smaller external incisions, improved breast shape and greater patient satisfaction. With Klein’s minimal incision mastopexy, also called Short Scar technique, most of the sutures are placed beneath the skin and are absorbed by your body; any external incision is camouflaged in the natural breast contours.
Often the areola becomes enlarged in patients with heavier breasts. While repositioning the areola, Dr. Klein will reduce this as well. A breast lift can rejuvenate your figure with a breast profile that is youthful and uplifted.
Typically, a breast lift takes about two hours depending on what type of lift you are having and how much correction is needed.
Are you a candidate for Breast Lift Surgery?
- Breasts are pendulous, with adequate breast tissue
- Nipples and areolas point downward
Dr. Klein’s approach is to individualize treatment to your specific circumstances and goals and to help you achieve the appearance you desire with the least invasive procedure available, thus creating a mutually rewarding experience.
Breast Lifts do not reduce or increase the mass of the breast. If this is your goal, you may choose either a Breast Reduction or Breast Augmentation.
Many patients may desire both a breast lift with breast augmentation, often referred to as BAM (Breast Augmentation with Mastopexy), to lift and increase their breast size. If the breasts are small and have lost volume a BAM procedure incorporates breast implants inserted along with breast lift (Mastopexy) can increase both firmness and their size.
Many patients choose to incorporate a breast reduction also referred to as Mammaplasty with their Breast Lifting or Mastopexy procedure. This will reduce the size and heaviness of the breast. Depending on the weight of the breast and physical problems that are associated with the size and heaviness, insurance companies will often provide coverage for the breast reduction portion of the surgery.
The final results of your breast lift will appear over the next few months as breast shape and position continue to settle. The small incision lines will continue to fade over time.
Results should be long lasting, although breast shape is affected by weight gain, pregnancy and they continue to change with aging and gravity. Maintaining good health and stable weight will help you retain your new look longer.
Dr. Klein also performs Combined Breast Augmentation and Mastoplexy.
